Review: Lily Lolo Concealer + Brushes

I got the lovely suggestion to test Lily Lolo's concealer by my follower Jenny.
I haven't tried a thing from the brand yet but been planning to buy a few makeup samples for my next natural makeup brand to try out.
Lily Lolo recently did a rebranding of their design and I must give it to them, it looks so exclusive and elegant than the past that I was actually willing to give them a try. - I ashamedly judge books by their cover!
With their new design they also came out with a new set of sleek looking brushes.
Lily Lolo only offers samples on their bigger products and after having some bad luck with past concealers, I was a bit on the fence ordering a full size.
After going through their Shade Guide and looking for the complementary concealer to the foundation shades I would've gone with, it was really no doubt about Caramel. I'm sure Nude would suit as well, but I really didn't need another concealer being slightly too light on me and with summer on its way there's really no stress of it being too dark.
With that I also decided to invest in a proper concealer and eyeshadow brush that I've been missing.

Lily Lolo Powder Concealer in Caramel

It contains Kaolin.
Which you usually use in mud masks for healing and detoxing properties and hair products to absorb and control excess oil. My eyelids being very moist and on the oily side I hoped this would fix my problem with eyeshadows not sticking.
Also, what I missed with the Tikei concealer was Zink Oxide, even though powder SPF isn't something to lean on, I feel safer knowing that there's something around my eyes with full spectrum, reflecting and preventing aging around that delicate area.
The color Caramel was such a successful match to my light to slightly more medium complexion that I could even use it to fade down any dark spots that stands out! It won't however cover them completely.
You get a great amount and a natural look for the price!
+ -
I'm so content with this product that I actually don't have much bad to say about it!
Some pointer would be to say that it can be a bit hard to wash off completely without using a moist pad and some oil. But in general, long lasting is considered a plus.
Unfortunetly, my lids are just too oily, but after one stroke, wipe and another it usually stays in place.
I haven't experienced much creasing in fine lines, but would still recommend someone more mature to look for liquid concealers.

Lily Lolo Concealer Brush

I once bought a concealer brush but it was for liquids and didn't work as well as my finger.
The Lily Lolo concealer brush is vegan friendly, teddy-soft and should work with both powder and liquid concealers.
I believe that no matter what product you use, without the right brush it won't give the best result.
After getting used to using Tikei's fluffy shading brush for applying concealer, we can just say it took a few uses until I completely and utterly fell in love with this flat tapered brush!
It blends the powder concealer into your skin just like a liquid, giving you a flawless second-skin-look.
I haven't used it with a liquid yet, but wouldn't be surprised if it left the same result.
It works well with other concealers too like the one from Alima Pure.
I've only had it and used it for two months and I can say that the quality is impeccable. I've not experienced any shedding with it, nor any looseness of the holder, or decline of the softness.
I know I have no real preference to other concealer brushes, but for the decent price, quality and result of the brush, this is the Brush to have for concealers!

Lily Lolo Eyeshadow Brush

I feel like the odd one who's never had a proper eyeshadow brush... When I got the eyeshadow samples from Tikei I panicked because I didn't really have a brush that suited for loose eyeshadows. All my life it's been pressed and finger friendly.
It's definitely easier to work with the loose eyeshadows now, creating a finish all over-lid.
The brush is supposed to work with both pressed and loose, and I can confirm it.
This brush contains the same excellent quality as the concealer brush: no shedding, soft and easy to work with.
There's still just something with the brush that doesn't make me want to brag about it. Can an eyeshadow brush impress one?
However, my experience with brushes like these isn't that wide to begin with.
For the price and quality, it works.

Living Libations - Everybody Loves The Sunshine

”Sunburns are easier for our DNA to process than the cell damage of being in the sun with sunscreen”
~Nadine Artemis

I’ve gotten the great recommendation from you guys to try Seabuckthorn Oil, which I much appreciate! And my precious Tamanu Oil is also getting to its last drops. I thought I would kill two birds with one stone here, when I decided to plunge for Living Libations Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn (which also includes Tamanu oil!), but just when I looked at their website for one hundred time I came across another oil blend called Everybody Loves The Sunshine.

I looked at the ingredient list and it is similar to the Best Skin Ever, but like, even better! It has several oils that I’m looking for to add to my collection in building my own natural sunscreen, but to get it all and make my own would cost me quite much to start.
I love exploring, and this one sounds just like the thing I’m looking for! ELTS also comes in a Zinc Oxide-version (20%), but I’d love to have something to use both day and night - and buying both is just too expensive right now.
I’m planning to have it join me in July for the ultimate test.

I recommend you watch this video of Nadine Artemis giving a lecture on sunscreens and their affect on us.

Lily Lolo - Eyebrow Duo

I’m still using and have much left of TiKei’s eyeshadow in Cacao to fill in my brows. It’s come to that point where I don’t feel complete without it, and I don’t even have thin or light eyebrows!
What I really missed in the natural mineral makeup world was an eyebrow product with both color and wax.
I even glanced at the popular brands like Anastasia and Smashbox for good brow duos, but both of these don’t have clean ingredient lists and are quite expensive. So I was very pleased, thankful and creeped out (did they read my mind?!) when Lily Lolo came out with an Eyebrow Duo just a few weeks ago! Great price too!

Kure Bazaar in Melrose

I used to buy a new O.P.I nail polish every month or so. I used to always have painted nails.
Lately I’ve been au natural for quite some time. I don’t know if I got unconsciously put off by the chemicals I’ve been exposing myself too. For example, I did everything else right, but would repaint my nails every two weeks. I don’t wear jewels, so you could say nail polish was kind of my accessory and way of expression.

I’m thinking of giving away my toxic collection and replace it with less toxic polishes. I like the look of Kure Bazaar and wouldn’t mind owning every single shade. Melrose, which is one of their newer shade, caught my eye. Every summer I usually paint my nails and toes in O.P.I’s Strawberry Margarita (bright pink), and Melrose reminds me much of it but being softer and ”spring”-like.

Infinity Strap

My second course of Ashtanga Yoga ended just a week ago. I’m on the fence if I truly want to continue with my practice, namely Ashtanga series. And as much as I like having a teacher correcting me and helping me go deeper, I feel like I’ve hit a plateau.
I know this is perfectly normal, and that it is now that I should keep practicing strong. But sometimes it feels better to just accept what is and focus on other things that needs improvement. Skipping class you paid for and thinking ”when is this over” will not make you a better Yogi.

So I’m thinking of taking some time off from class (maybe leaving room for drop-ins) and do home practice for a while.
To get deeper in positions by oneself I felt the need for a yoga strap. I came across the Infinity Strap, which also come in a stretch-version. They give you perfect reasons on why it is better than the original strap and I love the innovative thinking!

Juil Shoes

Earthing or Grounding as it is called is having the spotlight. It’s no science, being barefoot stimulates us in a sense of feeling connected to the earth and everything around. I always feel like I have such better understanding of my surrounding when I have both of my soles on the ground. Unfortunately, concrete isn’t that nice to walk on, and selfish people makes it hard to not get hurt while trying to walk barefoot, so shoes are a must.

Whether these shoes has the ability to ground me through copper connectors beneath each toe or not, I think Juil’s collection of sandals are very pretty overall. They are not cheap but the price don’t differ much from another pair I’ve had my eyes on, except that one will ground me to the earth and the others will not.

I’ve only found one place that ships these overseas, you find their stock here.

Detox Your Life: How To Let Go Of Toxic Relationships & Feeling Good About It

There’s a lot going on about practicing self love right now, and I would liked to make a contribution on the subject. Because no one knows as much about self love as I do to be honest. Or at least, I’ve never come across someone treating themselves as good as I do ;) I just looove being myself haha
A big part of mental clarity comes from our surroundings. Tweet It
There’s a big reason why I choose a more solitude life and don’t go out with friends or have many of them, it’s because I am an emotion-sponge. It’s exhausting for me to be around people, especially those who are emotionally charged in one way or another. People are often unaware of what energy they send out just by riding the train.

Knowing how others emotions affect me I’m quick to remove myself from any situation (read: person) that makes me not feel uplifted. You may think I’m afraid of facing problem, no, this isn’t like that.
I know how it feels to be alone and have no fiends at all. One of them are more stressful and the other one is freedom.

Now, I’ve noticed during my years that people tend to be lazy about this. Everyone can spot a toxic person, but only 1% does something about it. This is because most people don’t love themselves enough to do whatever it takes to make themselves happy. It may be considered egoistic, but when you think about it, everyones happiness depends on Your happiness. If you feel good more joy will enter your life. By choosing to surround yourself with negative energy, you are allowing it into your life which will hold you back from anything good to want to come your way!

First off what is a toxic person?
  • Someone who drains your positive energy.
  • Makes you mad for reasons you shouldn’t or don’t even know.
  • Someone who does not support you and your goals.
  • A person who dumps their negative feelings onto you.
  • A person who complains but doesn’t do anything to change.
  • Makes you feel like you have to impress them, but no matter what you will always feel worthless or not yourself.
Basically, they cause unwanted stress and should be considered a toxin.
This could be a friend or a family member, but probably not your pet. If that's so, you’re probably not doing a great job being a leader.

Why is it important to remove or avoid negative people?
  • They drain your energy level, causing stress and anxiety which can lead to health problems.
  • They slow down your ambition by inserting doubts and fears in your mind.
  • They block the space for your own self growth, holding you back from taking positive opportunities and for success to happen.

So how do we detox these people out of our lives?
I give you a tree-step process because that is all you will need!

The first step in any is to feel that you deserve better. Because you do! Don’t feel the least ashamed!Know you Deserve positive people around you!You are special. You are powerful. No matter what anybody implies, You are worth just as much as them. You deserve to be around people who treats you nice, that lift you up, respects you and helps you grow! That is the truth!
You need to decide that you are worth it.Don’t let somebody else hinder you to show your gifts to the world. Because you are freaking awesome! You know it. Your friend knows it. I even know it. You deserve the Best and most potent people around you!
You need to ask yourself:
  • Does this person support my goals or slow me down in achieving them?
  • Does this person constantly complain or actually take in my advise?
  • How do I feel after a meeting with this person, all drained or uplifted?

Depending on how close you are and the feelings towards this person. If you can’t see yourself breaking the chains instantly then I’m suggesting first of all to actually confront the person.
Yes, tell them how you feel, give them your outmost constructive critique - just don’t sink yourself to their level.
You could also do the Step 1 for them, encourage them to take action with their problems instead of dumping all of their insecurities on to You - Tell them how strong they are! Because it’s the same here, only They themselves can decide to end their misery, not you.
If this person doesn’t change or even tries to change their behavior then the true fact is that this person doesn’t deserve your help or attention. They clearly don’t appreciate you or listen to you, and that’s your energy going to waste.

Think of all the people who’s waiting out there for you, desperate in need of your advice and who actually will listen! Don’t take that away from them!
Let that person go by:
  • Avoiding them. Yes, sometimes some old grade school-behavior is necessary, but it’s for Your own good, and theirs too actually. But don’t go and be an actual 14 year old, apologize for being distant but you don’t have to go further explaining why. Look at it more like ”Growing Apart” That shit actually happens, even in adult years!
  • Be drastic. If you feel like you need to and if it is appropriate, you can decide to cut the ropes dramatically. You really shouldn’t feel ashamed here but to embrace that new fresh air that suddenly got flowing when that big rock got lifted off your chest!
  • Let them go with love. Be open to the change and possibility that they might grow and be ready to actually take in some of your love and support while you keep your distance. Then you can meet them half way and slowly start introducing them to your life again.

As I said, You deserve to be acknowledged by people who appreciates you.
These people will:
  • Actually listen and take action on your advice.
  • Support and encourage you in any decisions or ideas that you have.
  • Make you feel uplifted and thankful for their company.
  • Inspire you.
I’ve cut the ropes with many in my life, both drastic and in time, it’s a natural part of growing and finding yourself. You may be forced to be with some, but you can always choose on where and how you put your energy on them. That energy is yours, and you do whatever you want with it. Just know that you can create great things with it, for Yourself, and Others who will actually listen and respect you. Invest it on good things.
You need to be a good friend to yourself before you can actually be a good friend to anyone else. Tweet It
Now tell me, are there any relationships in your life you feel like removing?
Have you gone through a break up with a friend because of their negative energy?
What was some of the difficulties in doing so?
